Trend Update: Fall '11-Winter '12 Trend Preview

Oh fashion flavor friends! I'm so excited to tell you about all the fall trends that are headed your way. Some are the familiar favorites you've been wearing this summer, and others are screaming for cooler weather and your special style to make them pop!
Before I go further, let me paint the picure for you:
- Just imagine you're in 1970's New York, ready to hit the town in your high waist flare jeans and platform shoes.
- Or would you rather be on the Scottish Highlands, wearing traditional plaids updated in bright modern colors?
- How about a trip back to the 1960's where the mod look ruled, and color-blocked geometric-inspired outfits were all the rage?
- Or how about a time machine trip back to the days of Victorian royalty?
Now: Have I got your juices flowing? No? So if history is not your thing, no worries - not all of fall's trends are inspired from the past. There are plenty that are new, fresh and modern, like the brightly colored pant. Always go black or brown on the bottom? Not this season!
I have so much in store for you this season. So keep shopping the closet, adding your pieces and watching this space as the fall looks are served up week after week. Here's a little preview for each of our Fashion Flavors:
- For Classic girls, feminine looks with a twist are the look for fall.
- The classic sheath dress is fitted but not tight; belted and cinched at the waist, find it in palettes of rich reds & dark navy, maybe with a classic stripe.
- Look for styles in solid colors, or color blocked with two or three unexpected combinations. You can create your own color block look, too by mixing and matching.
- The 70's leave their mark, with long lean silhouettes
- You'll love all the statement coats, in every color. Go for just the right shade in a rich red and sashay into winter the "bright" way.
- Romantic looks for fall are a must. I don't care what season it is, I am all about the romance you'll see with the English Country flare-- very Equestrian! There is something so Aristocratic about this polished, well maintained style. Look to the royals of the Victorian age to set the silhouette for you. Things to consider when creating this mood are:
- High collars
- Touches of lace or velvet
- Paids, turning up everywhere in the soft pallets that you love
- Riding pants with knee-high boots,
- Fitted vests
- High heeled oxfords
- Look for a high collar blouse with a vintage lace trim for a versatile piece you'll wear all season
- Top off this look with soft hair, natural make-up, smoky eyes and shimmery cheeks to complete this romantic mood.
- For you girls that put comfortable at the top of your list, you are in for a treat. Fall has so much in store for you!
- No more evening dresses to make your fun nights out a drag. Menswear dressing- especially the ladies tuxedo - is hot hot hot! Just think how great it will feel (and you will look) in a flowing black and white or black on black evening look.
- Add some red wedge shoes and you'll be on the dance floor in no time.
- You'll also love pairing a boxy tee over your favorite pants. Go for a royal blue, or even better, a stripe, for a comfortable look that doesn't look slouchy.
- I am so excited to see sporty girls strut their stuff this fall. You can totally pull off this look and feel great while you're doing it.
- You'll be wearing brightly colored pants and denim. These little gem-colored gems are just right for your spunky style.
- Add a boxy tee on top.
- For colder days, add a plaid blouse, or even a cape.
- Happiness abounds for the preppy girl who loves plaid.
- This fall is a treat of tartan and crosshatched fun. Look for tops, pants and long dresses in vibrant colors and unexpected plaid combinations.
- You'll also love the brightly colored pants that are popping up everywhere too.
- Pair with your favorite sweater or try on a high-collar Victorian inspired blouse that will add a fresh touch to your traditional look.
- Not that you would, but please don't lose those high-waist jeans from the summer, Bohemian gal. You're going to wear them all winter long.
- That flare leg and high-waist 70's style is right in the sweet spot for fall.
- Pull out your cape or furry jacket and you've got an off-the-runway look that will take you around the world.
- Also, be looking for one of a kind metal cuffs to accessorize you look. They're a huge hit for fall, too.
- Glamour is the word this fall - plan to have fun, ladies, because now is the time to express your glamorous self!
- Just about everything you'll experience this season will involve accenting the waist and glamorizing your wardrobe
- Start wearing wide-legged pants that move with printed sweaters and layered looks.
- You'll want to try everything from embellished collars to color blocking to feminine/masculine dressing (yes that exists)!
- Matching prints will be fun (remember that from last summer?)
- Look for loads of glamorous outerwear - that seems to be the greatest trend of all, from fitted vests to peplum coats to dyed furry furs.
- I really like the trendy looks his season, because they are tangible, wearable and fun. Your fun spirit and willingness to experiment makes your flavor one of the most open to trying new trends.
- I think you'll love trying on a few bright printed furry jackets, and maybe adding it to your closet.
- A cape or poncho would also be another great piece of outerwear to add to your closet.
- High-waist pants are the order of the day. Add a flare leg and get bonus points if they happen to be in a bright color like red or even royal blue.
- Down below, keep the wedge for everyday, but look for fun new heels and platforms in fresh new fabrics and designs.
- Your LBD gets a whole new look with this new fabulous footwear.
Fall is in the air - and we're going to have lots of fun! So start looking for - or adding - these pieces to your closet!
